FRAGILE SERIES
In this series of works, I’m exploring a delicate tension between fragility and strength through a very minimal but emotionally charged setup. I wanted to keep the subject simple but incorporate a sense of power in that simplicity. My subject matter was eggs floating in or cradled by twisted, reflective shapes of aluminum foil. The foil bends and curls around the eggs, sometimes nurturing them, releasing them, capturing and even threatening them. In one painting, one egg finally cracks, and the sharp, silver folds of foil curl around the rupture like serpents, visually pulling apart what seemed whole. For me, it’s a meditation on vulnerability and persistence and how something fragile can feel both protected and at risk, and how even in collapse, there is a strange kind of beauty.
